Tour Part 3: Transform and Load data into any data source

Manage all your transformation and loads from the Transform & Load Tab:

  • Create and edit data loads (all parameters saved for reuse)
  • Organize data loads in groups and jobs (like folders and files)
  • Create transformations and mappings for the data you want lo load
  • Test and run transformations and loads on demand
Data Transform & Load Tab

It contains 4 sections much like the Export Tab:

1. List of Loads: This list contains all your load groups and jobs. It looks and behaves like files and folders in the windows explorer. Jobs are data loads performed by DMT and groups are a way to organize jobs together. The area on the right (2,3,4) display information about the group or job currently selected.
2. Load Parameters: In this area you can instantly view and edit the main attributes of a load (e.g. Name, Database Connection, Data File information, etc). You can also access additional attributes like Run Pre-Conditions (See Tour Part 6) and Pre or Post Processes (See Tour Part 7).
3. Load Mapping (where and how to load the data): In this area you specify the destination table and the column mappings between source data and destination columns. You can also define load conditions and data transformations.
4. Scheduling Parameters: All groups and jobs can either be run "manually" on demand or be scheduled to run independently. In this area you can define all the scheduling parameters (e.g. run frequency, run time, run days, etc). There are many scheduling frequencies and options to define when exports run. More details about scheduling parameters in Tour Part 5.

Once you've created a load job, it's automatically saved in DMT with all its parameters (so you can reuse it again). Whenever a job runs, it automatically reads the data file you've specified and loads it in the destination table according to the mapping you've chosen.

You can run load jobs on demand from DMT or automatically with the scheduler (see Tour Part 4).
