1. DMT Installation

Installing DMT is very straightforward. This page guides you through the installation steps.

1.1. Before You Start

Before you start installing DMT, please check the following points:

  1. You should have downloaded the DMT install file (DmtSetup.Zip) from the download page.
  2. Unzip the file and save the 2 files it contains (DmtSetup.msi and DmtSetup.exe) on the machine you want to install DMT on.
  3. Make sure the Microsoft .Net framework 2.0 or above is installed on the machine you want to install DMT on. For more information on how to install the .Net framework, see the Microsoft web site.
  4. If a previous version of DMT is installed, uninstall it via the control panel or the "Uninstall DMT" shortcut provided in the start menu.
  5. Make sure you have the necessary rights to install an application. If not, talk to your system administrator.

You're now ready to install DMT.

1.2. Installing DMT

To install DMT, just launch DmtSetup.msi and follow the onscreen instructions.

1.2.1. Windows User Access Control

During the installation, you might (depending on your windows settings) get a security message asking you if you wish to install the software on your computer.

Confirm Install Message Box

Click Yes to allow DMT to install.

1.2.2. Installation steps

The installation process takes you through a succession of simple steps.

Just follow the instructions displayed for each step and enter any information requested. To move to the next step, click the Next button. At the end of the installation, just click Close.

1.3. Checking the Installation

After the installation is complete, you should have the following:

  • A DMT Client icon on your desktop
  • A new folder with all the installation files (location depends on what you chose during the installation)
  • A new windows service named "DMT Service" containing the DMT scheduler. The service should be started and set to "Startup Type: Automatic". If it's not the case, please change this manually.

You can access the windows services list from:

  • The Windows Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services (see picture below)
  • The DMT Service Manager in Start Menu > DMT > Manage DMT Service

Control Panel

1.4. Troubleshooting the Installation

The DMT Service doesn't start

If the DMT Service doesn't start (or fails upon starting), please check the DMT Service.LOG file. It can be found in the folder where DMT is installed (by default Program Files\S.E.R. Software\DMT) and is prefixed by the current date.

The log file will give you information about any error that occurred.

The license is not valid

DMT only works with a valid license. When running DMT for the first time, you will be prompted to enter a license. You can get a FREE Trial License here or directly from DMT or you can purchase a license here.
If you're experiencing any issue with the license please contact us at: contact [at]

Enter a new license manually

If you've omitted to enter the license during the installation process, or if you've acquired a new license, you can enter it without having to reinstall DMT. Just follow the steps below:

  1. Launch DMT and go to the About Tab
  2. Click on the "Enter New License" button
  3. In the form that pops up, enter your new license and click OK
  4. Click on the "Restart Now" button to restart DMT
